What is Hard Water?

How Water Softeners Help?

Ion Exchange Process
Inside a water softener, there are tiny resin beads that are specially coated with sodium ions. As hard water flows through the softener, the calcium and magnesium ions in the water are attracted to these resin beads. In exchange, the sodium ions on the resin beads are released into the water.
This exchange process effectively removes the hardness-causing minerals from the water, leaving you with soft water that’s gentler on your skin, hair, and appliances.
Regeneration
Over time, the resin beads in the water softener can become saturated with calcium and magnesium ions. To recharge them, the water softener goes through a process called regeneration. During regeneration, the softener is flushed with a saltwater. This salt water washes away the accumulated minerals from the resin beads, allowing them to be ready to soften water again.
